WILDFLOWERS AND THE CALIFORNIA DESERT

MARCH: DATES TBD

Experience the rugged desert charm of Anza-Borrego State Park. Take in sweeping vistas of the colorful Borrego badlands, trek through palm canyons, photograph desert washes, and explore the unique flora and fauna hidden in this pristine desert landscape.

Anza-Borrego is known for its stunning wildflower superbloom, iconic desert wildlife (including bighorn sheep), an entire forest of red ocotillo plants, and the darkest skies in Southern California.

We have carefully planned a route during the height of the flower blooming season, giving you a chance to see the deserts come alive during years with a wet winter. The nature tour covers Southern California, taking in the important deserts of Mojave, Joshua Tree and Death Valley.

What is the California Super Bloom?

The California super bloom is a rare botanical occurrence that only transpires under the right conditions. Superblooms only take place in deserts or throughout drier regions, most commonly in California, Arizona, and Nevada.

California Super Blooms are one of the most impressive spring phenomena the state can experience. But super blooms don’t happen every year so hopefully, your schedule is flexible if conditions align this season!
