HOW IT ALL STARTED

No tours were offered in and around Atlanta many moons ago, so when Mettina’s family and friends would visit from Europe, she had to take vacation time to tour them around. Mettina saw a business opportunity and Go Atlanta and Beyond was born! A tour company offering tours in Atlanta and day trips outside of the city. But as her parents were aging, the need to visit them grew. To be able to do this, she started organizing immersive tours to the Netherlands. And soon her tour guests were asking for tours in Iceland, then Peru, and Costa Rica…. Every year Go Atlanta and Beyond added a new destination! The company did more Beyond than Atlanta and after 12 years it was time to change the name:

We want to give back to the local family owned businesses and mingle with them as much as possible. you will see them at work and you might participate in some of their activities. so when you come home, we hope that you can truly say: “i not only saw it, but i truly experienced it!”

MEET OUR TEAM

Mettina van der Veen, Founder, Experience Creator, Storyteller, Certified Tour Manager and Guide, Photographer.

Mettina was born and raised in Holland (the Netherlands) where her family still resides. She had the opportunity to do an internship in the USA, which was a life-changing event. The culture shock, the incredible experiences…. it all started her dream of travelling and exploring the world… and she has done and continues to do just that!

She now lives in Atlanta, GA, but she continues to explore the world and find unique and exciting places, people and activities to share with you! She has over 15 years of experience sharing her knowledge, her contagious enthusiasm, her warm and open personality and experiences as a tour director. She will make you feel comfortabel immediately!

She is also an outstanding photographer and offers photography instruction,so you will come home with some great photos!
